How to recognize suspicious file types
PURPOSE
Some file types can run code, install software, or hide malicious content.
BE CAREFUL WITH
Executable files, scripts, compressed archives, macro-enabled documents, disk images, shortcut files, and unknown file extensions.
CHECK
Look at the full file name and extension. Attackers may use names like invoice.pdf.exe to hide the real type.
DO NOT OPEN
Do not open suspicious files from unknown or unexpected sources.
BEST PRACTICE
When in doubt, ask support to review the file.
