How to classify an issue as request, incident, question, or change

PURPOSE Classifying work helps route it to the right team. REQUEST Use request when you need something new, such as access, equipment, information, or service. INCIDENT Use incident when something that normally works is broken or degraded. QUESTION Use question when you need guidance or clarification. CHANGE Use change when you want to modify a system, process, setting, workflow, or configuration. BEST PRACTICE Choose the closest match and describe the goal clearly.
