How to read a paystub

PURPOSE A paystub explains earnings, deductions, taxes, and net pay for a pay period. COMMON SECTIONS Look for gross pay, taxes, benefits deductions, retirement contributions, reimbursements, withholdings, and net pay. CHECK DETAILS Review pay period dates, hours, rate, overtime if applicable, deductions, and year-to-date totals.
