How to safely lift heavy objects

PURPOSE Safe lifting reduces the risk of back strain, falls, and injury. BEFORE LIFTING Check the weight, path, grip, and destination. LIFTING TECHNIQUE Keep the object close, bend at the knees, avoid twisting, and lift with your legs. ASK FOR HELP Use a cart, dolly, or team lift for heavy or awkward items. BEST PRACTICE If it feels unsafe, stop and ask for assistance.
