How to restart a frozen computer

PURPOSE How to safely restart or recover a computer that is not responding. GENERAL STEPS Open the device settings, system information, software center, update menu, task manager, activity monitor, or endpoint management tool related to the task. VERIFY RESULTS Confirm the device status, software state, update state, storage level, serial number, or performance information before closing the task. TROUBLESHOOTING If the device continues to behave unexpectedly, restart it, note the device name, operating system, error messages, recent changes, and whether the issue affects other users or devices.
