How to track changes in a document
PURPOSE
Track changes records edits so reviewers can see what was added, removed, or modified.
STEPS
Turn on track changes before editing. Make edits normally and add comments where explanation is helpful.
REVIEWING
Use accept and reject tools to finalize edits. Resolve comments when discussion is complete.
BEFORE SHARING FINAL COPIES
Check whether tracked changes and comments should be visible. For final external versions, remove them unless intentionally included.
BEST PRACTICE
Use track changes for collaborative drafts, not for formatting experiments that create chaos confetti.
