How to organize files and folders

PURPOSE Good organization makes files easier to find, share, protect, and archive. START WITH CATEGORIES Group files by project, department, client, year, process, or document type. USE CONSISTENT STRUCTURE Create predictable folder names and avoid deep folder chains that require archaeology. KEEP CURRENT WORK VISIBLE Separate active files from archive material. REVIEW Periodically delete duplicates, archive old material, and remove files that no longer need to be retained.
