How to sort spreadsheet data
PURPOSE
Sorting rearranges rows so data is easier to analyze.
BEFORE SORTING
Make sure the spreadsheet has one header row and no blank rows inside the data range.
STEPS
Select the full data range or use the table tools, choose the column to sort by, and pick ascending or descending order.
MULTI-LEVEL SORTING
You can sort by more than one column, such as status first and due date second.
WARNING
If you sort only one column instead of the full rows, the data can become mismatched. That is how spreadsheets become tiny crime scenes.
