How to create a simple inventory spreadsheet

PURPOSE An inventory spreadsheet tracks items, quantities, locations, and status. COMMON COLUMNS Use item name, description, category, quantity, location, owner, serial number, condition, purchase date, and notes. BEST PRACTICES Use dropdowns for status and location, avoid duplicate item names, and update quantities consistently. CHECK Perform periodic counts and compare the spreadsheet to actual inventory. TIP Use unique identifiers when possible so similar items do not get mixed up.
