How to run an effective meeting
PURPOSE
Effective meetings use time well and produce decisions, alignment, or next steps.
BEFORE THE MEETING
Send a clear purpose and agenda. Invite the right people and share materials in advance.
DURING THE MEETING
Start on time, restate the goal, keep discussion on topic, encourage relevant input, and capture decisions and action items.
ENDING
End with a summary of decisions, owners, due dates, and unresolved questions.
BEST PRACTICE
Cancel recurring meetings that no longer have a useful purpose.
