How to cancel or reschedule a meeting

PURPOSE Canceling or rescheduling clearly prevents confusion and wasted time. WHEN TO CANCEL Cancel when the topic is resolved, key decision-makers are unavailable, or there is no clear agenda. WHEN TO RESCHEDULE Reschedule when the meeting is still needed but timing no longer works. WHAT TO INCLUDE Add a short explanation and any next steps. If rescheduling, propose a new time or update the invitation. BEST PRACTICE Cancel early whenever possible so people can reclaim their time.
